Mike Eden

Mike has played Bridge for over forty years and has represented Essex, Surrey and London.
He learnt whilst at Nottingham University and he taught bridge to students as an extra curricula activity whilst teaching in state schools. He has taught bridge for LEA evening classes, hotel chains, on cruise ships and currently teaches at Young Chelsea Bridge Club.

Mike trained as a teacher of mathematics and was a headteacher of a very successful comprehensive school. He is qualified as a bridge teacher in the UK and USA as well as having Bridge Director qualifications for both as well. He has helped with the training of bridge teachers and has EBUTA's (now EBTA) professional teacher status.

Currently he runs two duplicates each week and has numerous classes at a variety of levels available. The most popular classes are supervised play where students can ask for as much (or as little) help in both bidding and playing hands.

Together with his wife Carrie he has been hosting bridge sessions for many years. They are experienced Cruise Ship Bridge Hosts equally comfortable with teaching beginners and advanced players as well as directing duplicate bridge competitions alongside sessions of Rubber/Party Bridge. The feedback that they have received from cruise passengers has been consistently “outstanding”. Mike has a dealing machine and bridgemate scoring. On a recent cruise 64 beginners were facilitated by duplicating boards so that each table had the same cards so as to follow the lesson and whilst playing duplicate on board the bridgemates gave instant results to the players at the end of play.

All his students find him approachable, patient and enjoy his relaxed but informative attitude.
