Sam Behrens

I am 19 years old and am currently studying at the London School of Economics. I have played on the England U20 team since 2014, first with Nick Dean and now with Ben Norton (editor's note - with whom Sam won the 2015 Young Pair of the Year Award), playing in 4 Peggy Bayers, 3 Channel Trophys and 2 European Championships - winning a bronze medal in the 2017 event in Slovakia. Domestically, my biggest success was winning the 2016 Autumn Congress teams.

I learned the game from my father and at school. At that time my school Bridge club was run in part by current junior internationals Michael Alishaw and Toby Nonnenmacher. I was able to learn from then and soon I moved on to playing regularly at the Young Chelsea Bridge Club, who are very helpful to young players as they allow students to play for free in all their duplicates, and then later the England U21 squad.
