Anthony Golding

I am a solicitor, having spent most of my career working in-house at three British industrial companies, all of which ended up getting taken over after I left and no longer exist. I then worked for a US law firm, which ended up getting taken over after I left and no longer exists. I now consult part-time as the UK representative for a Texas-based law firm, who may be frightened to let me leave.

I learnt bridge at a relatively young age from my parents, who played social rubber bridge with friends, each using the Victor Mollo Acol Bridge Flipper. There was an active bridge club at school and I played even more at university, where I had the dubious distinction of leading the Varsity team to its lone defeat in the middle of a long run of victories. These days I play regular local duplicates and leagues, along with the major knock-out competitions and an annual visit to Eastbourne. Other interests are golf and tennis. None of these interests are shared by Katie, my wife of 40 years, which may account for the longevity of the union.
