Carina Negreanu

My name is Carina. Although I am originally from Romania, I have been living for a while in the UK - I have done my undergraduate degree in Astrophysics at University of Cambridge and now I have started a PhD in Physics in the same department.

In my free time I play bridge and recently I have got quite interested in looking at the probability and information part of the game. I'm not very sure if this will improve my game, but it is very satisfying that I can combine the two things I really like.

I play regularly at the Cambridge Bridge Club and the Cambridge University Bridge Club and try to enter as many congresses as I can. I also play in a few teams competitions (e.g. ECLs, Gold Cup) throughout the year. As a junior I have been selected to play in a few international events (thankfully vugraph does not store archives for long).

As my bridge skills go, I like to think that on a good day I am a good defender, on a very good day a good declarer, and if I get lucky I might even be in the right contract occasionally.
