Gerald Stecker

A regular player at his local club Gerald Stecker is passionate about Bridge and started playing about 30 years ago spending approximately half that time teaching the game to people from all walks of life at his own Bridge Club just outside London.

He believes Bridge should be enjoyed by all and by introducing an element of fun it helps dispel its elitist image and attracts newcomers to the fascination of this, the finest of all card games.

Gerald is always attending the latest Bridge course of “the English Bridge Union Teachers Association” brushing up on their very latest techniques, in fact he was one of the first 12 teachers in the UK to receive the “Cruise Ship Bridge Presentation Diploma” from the English Bridge Union. As well as teaching ACOL and SAYC Gerald is a fully qualified Bridge Director with both the “English Bridge Union” and the “American Contract Bridge League”. His experience of teaching and directing has been in much demand within the cruise industry. Over the last few years he has organised Bridge programmes for many of the leading cruise companies.

A happily married recently retired businessman Gerald has many varied hobbies including all sport especially Tennis. History and Law are of particular interest. He lived for a time in |America and went to sea joining the Merchant Navy at 19 years of age.

His love of adventure has seen him explore the high Andes of Peru and the northern Himalayas. In India he canoed down the Trisuli River and trekked through the centre is Iceland. He has fond memories of driving cattle from the prairies of Wyoming to the summer grazing grounds around the Little Big Horn River in Montana.
