Harry Madden

I'm 16 years old and live in Derby. I come from a bridge playing family - both my parents and older sister also play.

I was part of the Under 16 team which narrowly missed out a medal at the 2015 European Championships. I was then part of the Under 16 team that performed well at the World Youth Team Championships in 2016, finishing 8th and winning more than half of their matches in the round robin phase.

At the 2016 European Youth Pairs Championship I finished 5th with Oscar Selby in the Under 16 event - narrowly missing out on a medal by under a percent.

At the Young Bridge Challenge, I have won the Harry Scully Trophy (for the leading team from different schools) for three consecutive years. I have also won the Derbyshire men's pairs each year for the last three years and won the Derbyshire mixed pairs competition this year.

I think the fact that I came so close to being in the medal positions in 2015 at the European Championships and in 2016 at the European Youth Pairs Championships has strongly increased my desire to learn, improve and hopefully win medals and tournaments on the international stage in the future.

Outside of bridge, I play cricket, tennis, golf and chess at competitive levels. I'm also a keen Leeds United supporter and season ticket holder
