Mervyn has served the Sussex County Contract Bridge Association for very many years in multiple roles, particularly:
- Membership of the Management Committee for 13 years from 2005 to date
- Membership of the Tournament Committee for 12 years from 2006 to date
- Webmaster responsible for the development and maintenance of the county web site for more than ten years from 2007 to date
- EBU Master Point Secretary for more than 10 years from 2007 to date
- Membership of the editorial team responsible for the construction and publication of the county year book for four years since its inception in 2014
Mervyn has made an enormous contribution to the success of Sussex bridge over a period of time which is now exceeding 13 years. However, it would be wrong to measure his service simplistically just in terms of time. The personal input he has provided and reflected on the level of commitment, determination and sheer effort involved, often under testing circumstances is exceptional.
