Bridge is a wonderful game to learn. It is the key to so much enjoyment in the future.  Sometimes it seems like you will never master the game.  The secret to success is to practise, the more you play, the easier it all becomes.  Which is where this book comes in.  It has been designed to let you practise at home with a suggested auction and a commentary which is just like having your personal teacher at home, helping you.

These hands have been selected to illustrate themes from Book One Beginning Bridge - the first year course book of the English Bridge Union's Bridge for All course.

There are eleven sets, each of nine hands.  All were played at an average standard bridge club in Buckinghamshire.  The results given are an edited version of what really happened. In the final set you score your results against the rest of the club to see how well you have done.

The commentary is based on Standard English Acol , but the hands are good for practise whatever system you play.
