Easter Festival, London

Royal National Hotel, London, WC1H 0DG, 30th March - 02nd April 2018

An early start option is available on Friday

Please note that the details on this page are currently provisional and may be subject to change.

There will be an early start option available on Friday in the Championship Pairs, with play beginning at 2pm for those who wish to finish earlier. We hope this will help those who wish to play and also take part in religious and cultural events in the evening.

Otherwise timings for this event are now similar to those of the London Year End Congress. The usual start time of 4pm on the first day is still available for those who wish to begin later in the afternoon.

If you wish to take advantage of the early start option then please let us know when entering. If you wish to start at the ‘standard’ time then there is no need to let us know, and similarly if you do not notify us of your intention to start early we will assume you are starting at 4.00pm. Please help us to make the necessary arrangements by notifying us of your intentions.

Event format

The Championship Pairs is a ‘stratified’ three-session event scored across the field. Prizes and Master Points awarded in three categories: below Regional Master, below Life Master & Open.
Please note that play on Saturday will start at 11:45, and an early start option is available on Friday).
The Championships Pairs is part of the Championship Series, in which points can be earned towards the Player of the Year Championship.

The Swiss Teams on Sunday is a two-session event with seven 7-board matches in all. The event is now also a stratified event

The Swiss Pairs on Monday is a two-session flighted event with seven 7-board matches, with current round assigning. The event is flighted into two divisions: the ‘A’ flight is open to all, the ‘B’ flight is restricted to pairs containing no Life Master or above. The ‘B’ flight is further stratified with a ‘C’ category restricted to pairs containing no Regional Master or above, who have additional Master Points and prizes available. All events are Level 4.

Really Easy Afternoon
Friday 30th March, at 4pm
A relaxed duplicate pairs event for those with less experience.
This event is aimed at those with no experience of green-point events, and such players are probably below the rank of Master and lower than a Jack on the NGS. They should be comfortable playing unassisted in a 'club' environment, and it is intended as an introduction to 'tournament bridge'.
The results will be stratified based on NGS grading with prizes for the overall winners, and Blue Points awarded based on the stratified results.

In addition the same hands will be played at other locations round the country, with the competition scored across all venues.

Venues will be available here when known.

The event at each location will be open to all - EBU members and non-members alike. We may be able to accommodate individual players at the London venue, so please contact us and we will try to arrange a partner.

For all venues please enter directly with the EBU.
