Entry is open to the 2007/2008 holders of the Inter-Club teams-of-eight championship of each County Association of EBU. If the holders are unable to participate, then the invitation is extended to the runners up. It is a matter for County Associations to determine for themselves the nature of their own championship (eg knock-out; single-division league; multi-division league; one-day event), and to determine their own eligibility regulations (which must not be in conflict with their own Constitution).
Individual players may participate in qualifying rounds in more than one County (subject to meeting the eligibility requirements of that County), but only for one club within any particular County. Having once represented a club, a player may not subsequently change his allegiance to some other club from within the same county at any stage of the competition. Bridge clubs themselves may only seek to qualify for the Regional stage of the competition via their County of Primary Allegiance.
For the purpose of the Regional and National Final of the event, the following regulations will apply:
| All players must be bona fide members of the club they represent, and must have been so for at least three months prior to the date on which they propose to represent the club. | |
| All players must be members of EBU, but they are not required to owe primary allegiance to the County they represent. | |
| Players may represent one club only in the combined Regional/National phase of the competition. | |
| Teams are limited to eight playing members at each stage, although not necessarily the same eight in the Regional and National Final. | |
| Please see also the regulations applying to County Allegiance |
The Regional Finals will be run as all-play-all events on Saturday 17th May 2008, and is likely to start at 1pm and finishing at approximately 8.30pm. Up to 50 boards will be played, with the winners and runners-up in each region qualifying for the National Final. The venues are:
| NORTH | Bradford Bridge Club |
| MIDLANDS | Peterborough Bridge Club |
| SOUTH EAST | Richmond Bridge Club |
| SOUTH WEST | Bristol Bridge Club |
The National Final is played on Saturday 21st June 2008 at West Midlands Bridge Club in Solihull. Play will probably start at 1pm and finishing at approximately 8.30pm. Each team will play a 7-board match against each other team.
The Entry fees and more details will be posted here as soon as they are known.
Entries should be forwarded only by County Associations on forms that
will be supplied to them, and should name the club that is to represent them.
