Introduction

The third  Seniors Congress in the north of England, to complement the southern equivalent which takes place on the same weekend in Eastbourne.

As with all Seniors events, entries are invited from players born in or before 1951.  Category prizes will be available to the leading Veterans pair and team, this being defined as a pair/team all members of which are at least 70 years of age on the day of the tournament.

The format will be the same as the main November Seniors Congress; namely, a 2-session championship pairs qualifier on Friday leading to both "A" and "B" finals on Saturday.  14 tables in each final: all-play-all format. The congress concludes with a 1-day Swiss Teams event on Sunday.

There is also a 3-session Swiss Pairs event starting on Friday evening for the benefit of both non-qualifiers from session one of the championship pairs and for players joining the congress at this point.  Pairs who play in session 2 of the championship pairs but who fail to reach one of the pairs finals will join the Swiss Pairs on Saturday with a suitable carry-over score.

Master Points

All events are fully Green Pointed except for the Friday evening of the Swiss Pairs (25 Local Points per win/draw - but ¼ Green per win/draw on Saturday) and the qualifying rounds of the Pairs Championships (Local Points only, but all qualifiers are guaranteed a Green Point award in the final).
