England's premier teams championship consists of five rounds of knock-out matches played privately, qualifying eight teams to contest an all-play-all final.
Up to 16 teams will be seeded, including the finalists in last year's competition (provided that they enter with substantially the same players). Seeded teams will be exempt until round three (the round of 64), and will not be drawn to meet each other before the round of 16. Any team that defeats a seeded will attain seeded status themselves.
Unseeded teams losing their first match will have automatic entry into the Plate.
