National Club Inter-Knock-Out (NICKO)

Probably the most popular of all tournaments with over 500 teams entering annually, the NICKO is open to all bona fide bridge clubs (or bridge sections of other clubs) in England. The early rounds are of just 24 boards, increasing to 32 boards for the quarter-finals and semi-finals and 48 boards for the final, with the draw regionalised so as to reduce travelling.

Unlimited entry from any club.

2007 - 2008

The time has come to consider your entries to the 2007 - 2008 National Inter-Club Knockout (NICKO).  The schedule for this season will be similar to last year’s, which was put back a month from the previous year, to avoid congestion with other knockout events.

The closing date for entries for this season is 8th October 2007

An entry form can be downloaded by clicking here, or othewise please request one by clicking here to email the Competitions Department.

Further information can also be found in the 2007-2008 Members Diary & Handbook, pp 22-23.

We hope that your club will be entering teams into this year’s event.  We should be grateful if you would publicise it within your club, complete the entry form and return it, together with the appropriate payment, to the EBU competitions department as soon as is convenient.

Entry

ENTRY FEE SCALE:
£60 for 1 team

£44 per additional team thereafter

Junior players are entitled to enter at half price.  To qualify, they must be under 22 on 8th October 2007, or under 25 and studying for their first degree.  Discounts only apply for juniors nominated on original entry.  Further information on this can be obtained from the EBU competitions department.

Entries should be submitted by the Club Secretary, who should be satisfied that all the players comply with the following conditions: All players must have been a bona fide member of the club for at least 3 months prior to the date on which they first represent the club, and they must all be EBU members.
At least 4 players must be nominated for each team when the entry form is submitted. Please give EBU numbers for all players. If you cannot provide EBU numbers, then it is essential that you give their postcodes.

Extra players may be added, up to a maximum of 6 players per team, at any time during the competition provided:

(a) they satisfy the entry conditions,
(b) they have not represented another team in the competition this season, and
(c) they are nominated to the EBU Competitions Department before they play.

Each club can enter an unlimited number of teams, to be referred to as teams A, B, C etc. in no particular order of preference. Each team can be four, five or six players. At least four of the players must be nominated on the entry form at the time that the entry is submitted; extra players may be added, up to a maximum of six, at any time during the competition, provided:
(a) they are qualified as above,
(b) they have not represented another team in the competition, and
(c) they are nominated to EBU before participating in the event.

No player may represent more than one team during the year of the competition. However, the fact that a player may represent one club in this event does not bar him or her from representing another club in the Garden Cities Trophy or other inter-club event.

Further information can also be found in the 2007-2008 Members Diary & Handbook, pp 22-23.
