The Challenge Day is held in March each year for school-age players of all experience levels – you can choose to enter any one of three competitions.

The Schools Cup ...

... is open only to teams of players all of whom are of school age and attend the same school.

If entry levels are sufficiently small, it will be organised as a two-session all-play-all competition. With larger numbers, the first session will be a qualifying event from which teams will either qualify for the Schools Cup final or join the Swiss Teams after the tea break to play for the Schools Plate. There may be some seeding of teams if necessary.

Pre-entry for the Schools Cup is essential. One entry form per team should be completed and returned (to arrive by 12 March latest). An entry form will be available on the website in due course.

Bridge Swiss Teams -
The Schools Plate & the Harry Scully Trophy

Open to any players of school age, this will be run as a two-session Swiss Teams (but teams needing to leave early can do so after the end of the first session or later). Individual players and pairs may enter and will be formed into teams.

The Schools Plate will be won by the highest-placed team from a single school, and the Harry Scully Trophy by the highest placed team otherwise. There will also be awards for the overall winners, the highest-placed team from a single bridge club, and the highest-placed 16-or-under and 13-or-under teams.

MiniBridge Pairs

This is open to any players of school age and will be run as a one-session pairs event. Individual players may enter and will be formed into pairs.

Adults

We also try and run a bridge event for the adults who accompany young players.
