KCBA Bracketed Teams Event
What’s it all about?
As an alternative to Swiss Teams and Pairs, why not enter this new type of event at the University of Kent, Canterbury, on 11 May?
Team of four are bracketed into sections of eight based on the aggregate master point ranking of the team members. The top eight ranked teams form the top bracket (division 1), the next eight the second bracket and so on. Each team will then play a round robin of seven 7-board matches against the other teams in the same bracket.
In principle, the teams in each bracket would be fairly evenly matched and we hope that that would encourage more players to participate. This will therefore make an ideal first green-point event for less experienced players.
Green point awards for matches won or drawn will be the same as for Swiss events and there will be bonus awards to the top two teams in each bracket. The winners of each bracket will also receive cash prizes.
This will be the second bracketed teams event organised by the KCBA and a large majority of last year’s participants will be returning. Why not come and join them on 11 May.
