National Pairs

Regional Finals: 10th March 2019. National Final: 6th – 7th April 2018, Hilton Hotel, Coventry, CV2 2ST (TBC)

Since 2016 the National Pairs has a new structure without club heats and with an increased number of Regional Finals, open to all EBU members who wish to enter.

The Regional Finals will take place at several venues (to be announced).

The National Final will take place at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel, Coventry. to be confirmed.

As in the past, the competition will culminate in a National Final contested by the top 50 pairs.

The event is also part of the Championship Series, in which points can be earned towards the Player of the Year Championship.

2019 National Final

The National Final will be held on the weekend of 6th – 7th April 2019, starting at 1.00pm on the Saturday and finishing at approximately 5.30pm on the Sunday. The final is all-play-all with 49 two board.

2018 Regional Finals

The Regional Finals will be held on Sunday 18th March 2018, starting at 1.00pm and ending at approximately 8.30pm. The venues will be divided into five regions for the purpose of awarding the regional winners’ trophies.

All venues will play the same boards and the event will be scored across the entire field. The top 50 pairs nationally will qualify to play in the National Final. Should any pair be unable to play in the National Final, their place will be taken by the next-ranked pair.

In addition a ranking list will be produced from each region (scored by itself), with the winning pairs being awarded the regional trophies.

Catering arrangements for 2018

Billericay - Free tea/coffee and biscuits are available at the club. Hot food is sold at the café beneath the club until 4pm.

Bradford - A buffet tea will be available to purchase.

Bristol - a plated tea to include sandwich with garnish, savoury, sweet, and tea or coffee, is available to pre-order at a cost of £6.00. You must contact sue.ohara@btinternet.com in advance to do this.

Exeter - Tea, coffee, soft drinks and licensed bar available. Soup and sandwich menu available in the break. Please do not bring your own food/drink to consume on the premises

Patcham BC, Brighton: There will be no on-site catering, however there are shops, take aways,restaurants and pubs nearby.

Richmond - A selection of sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes available to be pre-ordered on the day for collection in the break.

Solihull, West Midlands Bridge Club A range of cold sandwiches and snacks will be available as well as a licensed bar. Only food and drink purchased on the premises may be consumed on the premises (dietary requirements can be accommodated, please call 0121 704 9633 and speak to Jayne).

Stamford Bridge Club - Tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits are available free but please bring your own food.

Tunbridge Wells - A licensed bar is available where drinks (including teas and coffees) and small items of confectionery can be purchased. There are a considerable number of restaurants, cafes and coffee bars within easy reach of the club premises.

2018 hotel rates

DB&B £79 sharing; £89 double for sole use

A number of rooms are reserved for booking at this negotiated rate for a limited period of time. Any unbooked rooms are usually released for booking by the general public a few weeks before the event. Thereafter rooms may still be available, but at the hotel’s current rate. Likewise if all allocated rooms are booked then rooms may still be available, but at the hotel’s current rate. To ensure rooms are available at the negotiated rate please book as early as possible.
