The EBU Simultaneous Pairs

The National EBU Simultaneous Pairs are played twice a year, in mid-May and September and the BGB National Pairs four times a year, in January, April, July and October. These main events are all Green Pointed - click here for more information about this exciting development!

They are played, as always, in clubs throughout the country and are scored by ECatsBridge. When an event is coming up, a list of the participating clubs will be posted on the ECatsBridge Website.

Organising a Simultaneous Pairs is very simple - Anna Gudge, who organises them on our behalf will send you an organiser pack containing everything you need, and she is always available to help if you have queries about any part of it, so do get in touch - you can email her by clicking here or telephone her on 01787 881920.

Many players enjoy the simultaneous pairs, which give them the chance to play against many hundreds of other players throughout the country from the comfort of their local club. They are not expensive to play in (normally £2.80 per player, less than a pint of beer these days!), and you get a booklet with an expert commentary afterwards, to give you some idea of what you might have done on the hands, as well as generous master point awards. It is exciting to watch the website as results come through to see how they change as more clubs upload and you can see how you did very soon after the event ... provided your club uploads quickly of course!

In addition to the main Simultaneous Pairs, the EBU runs special national simultaneous pairs events for Bridge Students, for Schools, including a special Minibridge event, and for Universities - these are not Green Point events.

You can find a full calendar of National Simultaneous Pairs on the ECatsBridge Website.

And finally, there are various Simultaneous Pairs licensed by the EBU. These may be National or Local ones - some large and some small, and you should email Ian Mitchell in the EBU Licencing department for details of these.

Do come and join us! Simultaneous Pairs are enormous fun and we think you would really enjoy it.
