The One Day Events at the Summer Meeting in Eastbourne gives all the enjoyment of the full meeting, but with events and timings designed to allow greater flexibility. So whether you can only come to Eastbourne for a short time, want to minimise your accommodation needs, or just want more time to enjoy the sights of Eastbourne, these events are for you. All events are Level 4.
All the One Day Events at the weekends start at noon, to allow travel that morning, and finish by 6:30pm to eliminate the necessity for overnight accommodation.
The evening events on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday have an 'early bird' start option. This may help those who wish to travel home that evening. The start time is designed to enable those wishing to use the rail services back to London to take part.
The First Weekend:
The first weekend has a green-pointed stratified Swiss Pairs event on Sunday. This includes six seven-board matches, with a noon start-time.
There will not be a one day event on the first Saturday of the congress.
The Second Weekend:
The second weekend has two one-day green-pointed stratified Swiss Pairs. Each event consists of six seven-board matches, with a noon start-time, and there are extra prizes and Master Points available for those who play both days of a weekend.
Midweek:
All the well-known midweek events are in the One Day Event programme, including the daily Open Pairs and our regular evening events:
‘Play with the Experts’ Pairs* on Monday (stratified); The GCH Fox Championship Pairs for the Potters Resort Trophy (stratified) on Tuesday; Mixed Pivot Teams Championship on Wednesday; the Mixed Pairs Championship on Thursday (stratified); and a Point-a-Board teams on Friday afternoon.
We are very pleased that Potters Resort will be sponsoring the GCH Fox Championship Pairs. They will be joining us at the congress, and you can talk to them about the holidays they have available, plus they will be bringing some other mind sports for you to play during your 'down time'.
All the weekday afternoon events are blue-pointed and the weekday evenings are green pointed, with an early start available in the evening pairs events.
* - The 'Play with the Experts' Pairs is is a pairs event, but uses team-style scoring. At the the end of the evening all N/S pairs will 'score-up' using the scorecard of a pair of experts who previously played the E/W cards. The E/W pair will score-up with the 'expert' N/S pair. The pair who finished furthest ahead of the average score of those sitting in their direction will win.
Combined golf and bridge competition
In 2016 we held a combined golf and bridge competition. There are plans to hold this competition again in 2017, however this is still to be finalised. More information will be posted here when known.
Discount for club group bookings:
This year we are again offering clubs the opportunity to come as a group to our midweek afternoon events, and receive a significant discount off their entry fee.
Clubs are invited to take advantage of our midweek special - 'buy one get one free' when entering ten pairs. If bringing more than ten pairs, any additional pairs receive half-price entry.
The offer applies when all club members take part in the same afternoon session (so the entry can be split across the two events on Friday afternoon if preferred). Not all ten places need be filled (i.e. you can pay for ten pairs you bring only eight or nine - this still represents a significant saving).
Really Easy Congress
Less experienced players - those who have recently started playing, or are new to competitive bridge - can play in the Really Easy Congress which takes place midweek during the Summer Meeting. See the event webpage for details.

2017 Information
More details will be added to this section when available.

Follow signs to sea front, turn right, and go past the pier and the bandstand. Turn right up Carlisle Road. Immediately in front of you is the Winter Garden.
Hotels
No accommodation is available at the venue, and due to the abundance of hotels within easy walking distance of the venue there is not a 'host' hotel. You are free to make your own accommodation arrangements depending on your personal budget and circumstances. Our research suggests prices are cheaper than in Brighton - in some instances 30% cheaper for like-for-like options.
