About Bridge

How do I get started?

There have been an enormous number of books written on bridge, covering all aspects of the game for all levels of player. You might think of trying to learn to play from one of these, but we don't advise it. Whilst bridge is not really difficult, there is quite a lot to learn at first.

It is much better to go to classes where you will be taught the basics and learn through practice and playing. Your local library should be able to give details of classes run by adult education institutes, or perhaps a bridge club or private teacher is running classes in your neighbourhood.
e recommend you look for a teacher who is using our complete 'Learn and Play' programme. You are guaranteed a trained and qualified teacher teaching a sound system of bridge using attractive student materials. If no-one is teaching Bridge for All near you, look for a teacher who is a member of the EBU Teachers Association - there are well-qualified members of EBUTA all over the country and we can always put you in touch with someone locally.

If you are a student, why not try to persuade your school or college to introduce the game? We support bridge in schools by way of our MiniBridge and Educational Bridge for Schools programmes, through which we can supply trained volunteer teachers, a free 'starter kit' of bridge equipment and subsidised teaching materials.
