"It's fun learning to play Bridge with Phil" says Patricia, " he makes us think about our bids and plays, explains everything so simply that we ought to be able to understand without trouble. But of course we get it wrong. He then patiently explains why we failed to reach the right answer. I always leave a session happily, knowing that I have gained in Bridge experience and knowledge."

My philosophy is that Bridge is a game to be played for enjoyment and pleasure. The fewer mistakes that are made in both Bidding and Play will increase the entertainment to be obtained from this mentally stimulating game I teach the Acol system of Bidding based upon the writings of Andrew Robson in The Times and of Ron Klinger in his various books. I encourage a bold approach to the game allied to carefully planning the play of the cards both as Declarer and Defender. I emphasise, too, the need to show respect to partner; to listen or watch attentively to his bids, to pay attention to his plays and inspire him always to act correctly. He is your most precious asset at the Bridge table.

I am a long standing member of EBUTA and until recently had been a member of the American Bridge Teachers' Association for thirty years. I have considerable administrative and playing experience of Bridge at National, County and Club levels. For many years I was responsible for an extensive range of Bridge holidays both at home and abroad. I now concentrate on managing my Bridge Club in Salisbury . It has a membership of about 80; there are teaching sessions daily and a Competitive evening on Wednesday. You will be welcome both as a Beginner or Improver; there is no place for the tigerish competitive player.
