You want to teach Bridge ? How can we help ?

Are you thinking of teaching bridge? Most teachers find it a most rewarding experience - it's a great feeling when one of your pupils finally understands about the right bid or card to play! And it's very satisfying to introduce new people to our great game - so many people say "It's such a good game - I wish I'd learned sooner".

You don't need to be a great player in order to be able to teach bridge - it is much more important to have a warm and friendly personality and enthusiasm for the game. So long as you have a sound knowledge of the basics of the game, we can help you every step of the way. We will:

show you how to get started, using MiniBridge as a vehicle for introducing the game to complete beginners;
help you decide what to teach - the Standard English Acol version of Acol, as widely played in this country, is strongly recommended;
teach you how to run successful classes that our students can't wait to come back to each week;
provide you with comprehensive practical support, such as materials and equipment for teaching.
So how do I start ?
Teaching Bridge in Schools

Perhaps you are not so much interested in teaching adults as helping with the introduction of bridge in schools? Whilst some schools can afford to run properly structured courses as part of the curriculum or formally-recognised school activities, the majority rely on someone with a little spare time to run bridge groups in lunch times or after school, whenever they can be squeezed in.

When seeking teachers for schools, therefore, we rely on school teachers or other officials who are keen bridge players, or on volunteers, who may not necessarily be properly qualified teachers, but who must have enthusiasm and an empathy with young people. Does that sound like you?
