2002 Annual General Meeting of EBU Ltd and Council Meeting of EBU

The AGM was held on Wednesday last. David Harris had previously announced that he was not standing for re-election as Chairman to allow him the time and freedom to take an active part in representing the EBU and its members on the European scene. In this regard he is seeking election to the European Bridge League Executive in 2003. Due to this there was an election for the position of Chairman with two candidates being nominated. The outcome was that Denis Robson, the former Vice Chairman of the EBU, was elected. Other appointments are as follows:

Vice Chairman: Philip Mason
Treasurer: Tom Bradley
Vice President: Gerard Faulkner

Gerard Faulkner also received the EBU Lifetime Achievement Award and Honorary Life Membership.

Board Members: 2 positions available

Two new members: Roger Amey and Jeff Morris
Re-elected: John Neville, Philip Mason, Tom Bradley, Denis Robson,
Alaine Hamilton, David Harris, Malcolm Oliver and David Martin.

Martin Pool was unsuccessful. Gerard Faulkner and John Carter did not stand for election.

Laws & Ethics Committee: 2 positions available

Martin Pool was re-elected, Jeff Smith was elected.

Tournament Committee: 2 positions available:

Alaine Hamilton was re-elected, Malcolm Oliver was elected.

John Carter and Peter Kaufmann were unsuccessful.

Selection Committee: 3 positions available:

David Burn, Richard Fleet and Chris Dixon (nominated from the floor) were elected.

Simon Cocheme was unsuccessful.
