Open category:
In the event that the 2008 European Championships team does not finish in the top 8 places, a play-off will be held on 11th – 14th August at Brighton between the top four teams which reached the KO stage of the European, to determine the team for the 2008 WMSG (formerly the Olympiad) in Beijing from 3rd – 18th October. The 5th placed team would be invited to compete if one of the top four is unavailable.
Women’s category:
In the event that the 2008 European Championships team does not finish in the top 6 places, the European team will play a head-to-head match on 11th – 14th August at Brighton to determine the team for the 2008 WMSG (formerly the Olympiad) in Beijing from 3rd – 18th October.

Seniors category:
In the event that the 2008 European team does not finish in the top 6 of the 1st division of the Championships, a play-off will be held between the European team and the team qualifying for the 2008 Seniors Camrose.

The team for the World Mind Sports Games Under 28 Teams will be selected from the following six pairs who are taking part in a Trial on 17th – 18th May:
