Alex Morris - biography
I first started playing bridge at the age of 12 at Manchester Bridge Club. My bridge partnership with Mike Byrne started when I was about 15. That next year I had won my first national pairs competition and I was representing England in the Junior Camrose. I managed to continue playing Bridge while studying Psychology at Leeds University for 3 years. During this time I won competitions in Croatia and Israel, played in two Junior European Championships and one world Junior Championship, as well as representing England in a few Channel Trophies and Junior Camroses. After I finished my psychology degree, I decided to do a Masters in Marketing and Advertising, staying on at Leeds University. Unfortunately during this demanding course, I found little time to play bridge and so became a bit rusty! That year I got to the final of the Gold Cup, but was devastated after losing by 1 imp. Fortunately Mike Bell agreed to play with me in the Junior trials and we managed to win this event. My hobbies include watching films, cooking and going out. |
