Adam Hickman

Adam Hickman (or Gizzy to the bridge world) is 19 and is currently a croupier in Birmingham.  He started playing bridge around 2 years ago and his game quickly went from strength to strength.

He has enjoyed some minor successes with an array of partners, playing in the U19 pairs championship, winning the Arnott Davidson Trophy in London and playing club bridge at Manchester bridge Club  - as well as sharing the young players trophy with team-mate Rob Myers at the Manchester Congress.

It wasn’t long before he found a partner in Tom Paske.  After good results in the Great Northern Swiss Pairs, Llangollen Swiss Teams and the National Swiss Teams in Hinckley, he made his England international debut in December 2007 in the Channel Trophy which England triumphed at the last hurdle, beating Holland, France and Belgium.  He also represented England for the White House Tournament in Amsterdam which included over 20 other teams and good wins were recorded against France, Italy and the Netherlands.

Adam now plays with Dan Macintosh and has enjoyed immediate success in the Spring 4’s where they reached round 5 including a first round demolition job of 4 members of the current England Open team.  He and Dan are very much looking forward to the World Championships in Beijing.

Aside from bridge Adam enjoys a variety of music, rugby, football and  particularly poker .  He is also semi-fluent in French and German and hopes to put these skills to good use.    His future ambitions include continuing to represent England at bridge and he hopes to work abroad eventually.
