James is 17 years old and lives in Reading, where he attends Reading School. It was here he learnt his bridge, playing first at the school club and then at Reading Bridge Club.
 
James represented England for the first time in December when he was part of the team that won the Channel Trophy, in a nail-biting finish that saw them outscore the Belgians 66-7 in the final 9 boards. James has also played as part of the U20 team in Llangollen, and the National Swiss Teams in Hinckley.
 
James's hobbies include playing the Guitar, both classical and electric, as well as teaching chess, something that he used to play competitively before he gave up to concentrate on his bridge.
