Simon Cope
2007 Junior Team

Simon Cope is 25 years old, and lives in north London. He first took up bridge when at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School, aged 14. Here he met his long time partner, Stuart Haring, and they formed a partnership in 1997, undoubtedly not thinking it would span the next decade and counting! After finishing school in 2000, Simon went to Leeds University, and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Italian and French. He is currently leading a life of leisure, involving playing as much bridge and poker as possible!

Simon has represented England in 1 Peggy Bayer (2001), 2 Carousel Cups (2006 & 2007) in Amsterdam, 1 Junior Camrose (2006) and 1 Channel Trophy (2006). In doing so, as well as enjoying the bridge, he formed many friendships which he values greatly. He also won the U25 pairs in 2007, playing on that occasion with Ed Jones (England U20). He is well known amongst fellow juniors for his many catchphrases, which are used and abused by many, but his ambition in bridge is to see the day when fellow team members do not mock him for the system he is playing!

Finally, he is looking forward to his “junior swansong” in Jesolo, and hopes to perform well as part of a successful team. Roll on July!
