Issue of Reproduction of 1904 Special Playing Cards(The EBU is pleased to assist the Worshipful Company of Playing Cards by circulating this information) The Cutler Trust, the charity of the Worshipful Company of Playing Cards, announces the publication for sale of a celebratory twin pack of playing cards with the proceeds going for the benefit of the charity. The cards themselves are anniversary cards. The backs of the cards reproduce the special twin pack issued by the Company in 1904. The design features a Cavalier and a member of the Yeomen of the Guard supporting the Arms of the Company in front of the Guildhall of the City of London , with the arms of the City and its motto above. The backgrounds to the packs are light blue and cream. This design was created by a Mr Alfred Carpenter in 1897 and was the winning design for the Company's "H.D.Phillips Prize." The original cards were manufactured by De La Rue and Co. PrintersThe cards have been printed by Richard Edward Limited, the only remaining wholly integrated UK manufacturer of playing cards, and use their house style for the faces. Based in London , Richard Edward Limited produce bespoke playing cards for a wide national and a European client base. The CharityThe Cutler Trust was set up from contributions from De La Rue & Co Limited, John Waddington and Co Limited and members of the Livery. Its objects are to help all people under 25 and also include relief of need, financial help for young people to prepare for entry into any profession, trade, occupation or service, and to promote education (including social and physical training) of such people. OrderingThe recommended retail price for these cards is £12 per twin pack in a special clear box. The trade price for orders of 10 or more packs is £6.
