Bridge Club Live Congress, 13-16 January 2006.

Around 130 players from all over the UK, as well as Canada, Russia and several European countries, met at the Hinckley Island Hotel for the largest yet annual gathering of Internet Bridge players. The event was organised by Bridge Club Live, (www.bridgeclublive.com) the only online bridge provider based in the UK and affiliated to the English Bridge Union with over 3000 active members.

The prizes and trophies were presented by Nick Justice, the Managing Director of Bridge Club Live. Mr Justice also honoured one member present, Therese De Werra of Switzerland, who is expected next month to play her 100,000 th deal of bridge within the online club. This represents a total of around 12,000 hours of playing time over the last few years.

The weekend comprised a series of five consecutive single session events. The winners of the main events were:

2. Andrew Worth and John Golding (Surrey and London) 63.69%

3. Roger and Penny Gowland (Yorkshire) 62.15%

1. David Southcombe and David Woulds (Oxfordshire and Bedfordshire) 68.27%

2. Gary Conrad and Lindsey Clarke (Hertfordshire and Kent) 60.79%

3. Goeff and Patsi Fielding (Powys) 60.11%
