The Portland Bowl
The final stages of the 2007 Portland Bowl were held at The Portland Club, London. The convincing winners were Oxford A (Greg Moss, Alex Webb, Alice Kaye, Ian Angus, James Rogers). In the final they beat last year's winners Durham A (Tom Dessain, Dominic Maloney, Gyles Ellison, Nicol McDougall) by 58 imps.
In the semi finals Oxford A had overcome Oxford B by 53 imps, and Durham had beaten Canmbridge B by 34.
In the quarter finals played in March, Oxford A had beaten Balliol A (also an Oxford team) by the margin of 1 imp! Clearly this was a team of destiny.
This was a first Oxford win since 2002, when they had won the event 6 out of 7 years (1996-2002). The only surviving member of the team was Greg Moss, for everyone else it was a first time win.
