EBU Organisation & Structure

The EBU is made up of 39 constituent County Associations each with nominees holding shares. At its AGM in November, the shareholders elect a Board of eight directors and then, among their number, a Chairman and Vice-Chairman. They may then appoint a further three directors.

The Shareholders meet annually at the EBU AGM to assist their elected Board in determining policy in the government of the game and general EBU matters. At the AGM, the Shareholders elect an Honorary Treasurer and two committees.

The committees, accountable to the EBU Board, are the Laws and Ethics Committee and the Selection Committee, responsible for selecting teams to represent England in international events.

There are sub committees of the Board such as the Editorial Board which supervises the development of the members magazine, English Bridge, and the Tournament Panel which assists with the organisation of competitions.

The national headquarters of the English Bridge Union are in Aylesbury where 16 full and part-time professional staff support and advise the committees and help implement policy.
