Ken Drane, 1931 - 2013

We are very sad to report that Ken Drane, stalwart of Middlesex County Bridge Association and Ealing Bridge Club and a winner of the Dimmie Fleming Award in 2011, passed away on Thursday aged 81.

Denny Davies, 1929 - 2013

We're very sorry to announce the death of Denny Davies, who worked for the EBU for over ten years in various roles including licensing and magazine advertising. Denny described his time at the EBU as amongst the happiest years of his life.

Imperial College win Portland Bowl

Congratulations to Imperial College, winners of the 2013 Portland Bowl, the British Inter-University Teams-of-Four Championship, sponsored by the Portland Club, who hosted the Semi-finals and finals on April 20th – 21st.

The Imperial team, consisting of Jorrit Schafer, Kok Hong, Jeanne Lantz and Kevin Satti, defeated Cambridge ‘A’ in the Semi-Final by 4 IMPs, and Edinburgh University in the Final by 8 IMPs.

England women win Lady Milne

Congratulations to the England women, who won the Lady Milne Trophy in Scotland at the weekend. They finished 10 VPs clear of last year's winners Scotland, with the second Scottish team in third. The victorious team was Sally Brock, Susanna Gross, Jane Moore, Gillian Fawcett, Pauline Cohen and Lizzie Godfrey with NPC Simon Cope.

Chadha and Hansen win National Pairs

Congratulations to Gad Chadha and Ingar Hansen, who won the National Pairs A Final at Hinckley at the weekend. Their score of 59.05% was well ahead of Chris Dixon and Pat Davies, in second place. Paul Darby and Steve Dannell were third.

In the B Final, Gill Copeland and George Bak took home gold, ahead of John Bernard and Nigel Stuttard, and John Hayton and Kevin Hawkins.
