P2P Exemptions
by Val Gibson

I am very pleased to be able to tell you that a proposal, which originated from Stratford upon Avon Bridge Club, to increase the number of charity sessions exempt from P2P in clubs with more player sessions has been accepted by the Board. The position will be reviewed in March 2013. The Board agreed that:

  1. Up to 10,000 player sessions a year, one exempt club session. The current position regarding the reasons for these sessions remains unchanged.
  2. From 10,001 to 20,000 player sessions a year, two exempt club sessions – the extra session must be a charity event.
  3. Above 20,000 player sessions a year, three exempt club sessions – the extra two sessions must be charity events.

This is in addition to the EBU supported Children in Need event. The exemptions will apply in the year 1st April 2012 to 31st March 2013 and be calculated according to the number of player sessions played at a club in the previous year, i.e. 1st April 2011 to 31st March 2012. Clubs who believe they meet the criteria for more than 10,000 player sessions in the period April 2011 to March 2012 and who want to run these additional exempt charitable events should apply to the EBU’s Office Manager Karen Durrell by email at karend@ebu.co.uk . There is no need to contact Aylesbury if clubs wish to continue with one exempt session.

It is clear to me that there is an effective route for clubs to raise issues with the RCC, NCC and the Board where those are framed as a specific proposal.
