Club Management Focus: Autumn 2014

Club domain names

In May the .club domain was introduced. This may be very useful for clubs with lengthy or awkward domain names who are looking to switch to something more concise or memorable. Similarly it could be used if your current address is recognised only by a suffix – i.e. www.generic-host.com/yourclub

You may therefore be interested in setting up a website along the lines of www.yourbridge.club – e.g. www.leicesterbridge.club

You should be able to register a .club address with all the major domain registrars.

If using bridgwebs, you can use set up your registered domain to point to your web site home page. They provide information on doing so here - http://www.bridgewebs.com/guide/_domain.html. Their worked example uses www.123-reg.co.uk and they have .club domains available from £10.99/year.
