There is a lot happening and this newsletter provides lots of information that is relevant to affiliated clubs and their members. Talking of being affiliated has your club got the EBU affiliated logo on its website? There is a link in this newsletter to copies of the logo for your webmaster.
The charity EBED is seeking to undertake some research into the cognitive benefits of playing bridge. There is a little research already into the effects of playing bridge and whether it delays the onset of dementia but nothing all that new and certainly not enough. Research is expensive and both the EBED Sims in 2016 will be to raise funds for this research. Even if your club suffers SIMS overload I hope you will give these events serious consideration for your club. There is more detail in an article here.
It is the time of year when you think about subscriptions and, of course, inflation is always with us. You will, I hope, be pleased to note that the affiliation fee for 2016/17 is unchanged as is the Universal Membership Fee frozen at 36p. Full detail is here. Bridge remains excellent value as an afternoon or evening out.
