EBU Teaching Survey


The EBU is undertaking a survey of all affiliated clubs to find out about the teaching of beginners which takes place around the country.

Please help us to help you by completing it, even if you do not currently offer any lessons.

The EBU is dedicated to increasing the number of people playing bridge in clubs in England. The information from this survey will be used to help us formulate our policy on this aspect of Education. By completing this survey you will be helping your club and all the other clubs in the EBU to reach their full potential.

As you probably know, the EBU's former Chairman, Sally Bugden, was a passionate champion for Education when she was on the EBU Board. She has generously agreed to produce a series of recommendations for the EBU Board, based on the findings from this survey. The survey will provide her with important, up to date information about:

  • EBU affiliated clubs;
  • which regions have a shortage of bridge classes;
  • the problems encountered by clubs and how the EBU might be able to help;
  • how clubs teach;
  • how beginners progress from classes to club play.

The greater the response we get, the more we can rely on the data and the more certain we will be of what steps the EBU needs to take. So please reply even if it is only to say you don't have any teaching at your club, and why that is.

Every club that completes the questionnaire will be entered into a draw in which there are 3 prizes of £200 vouchers to spend at the EBU shop which provides a wide range of supplies and equipment for bridge clubs at excellent prices.

This email has been sent to the secretary, chairman and 'main contact' of each affiliated club so as to ensure we get the highest response rate possible, but please try to ensure that only one response is submitted from each club. We hope you can arrange which member of the club will complete the survey.
