Silver and Dimmie Fleming Awards

Entries close soon for nominations for the EBU’s Silver and Dimmie Fleming Awards.

Silver Award

The Silver Award is given for outstanding contribution and in recognition of long service as a volunteer at National and/or County level. In this instance long service is recognised as being 15 years or more on a County Committee, or 10 years or more on the EBU Board or an EBU Standing Committee.

Please note that this award now excludes any achievements relating to play and deals solely with administrative matters and the development of the game.

Nominations can be made by any Board member, Shareholder, County, or individual EBU member. Nominations should be made using this form – please send it to kay@ebu.co.uk.

The closing date for nominations is 22nd August 2016.

Dimmie Fleming Award

The intent of the Dimmie Fleming award is to publicly recognise those people who do not hold an official (i.e. EBU) office, but have given long and distinguished service for Bridge administration at County level.

The duration and value of the service given by those granted the Award should be significant and substantial, but will be viewed flexibly and moderated by the Awards Sub Committee. They should be volunteers who have contributed to County administration, typically giving 10/15 years’ service to the county.

Board Directors, Vice Presidents, EBU employees and Panel Tournament Directors are excluded from nomination, however after leaving office such people are eligible for an award, if they have also worked hard for bridge at County level.

All nominations can be made by any shareholder, county, or EBU member, but should be made via your County who will then submit the nomination to the EBU (to kay@ebu.co.uk) stating that approval of the County Committee has been obtained. These will then be collated by the EBU staff in Aylesbury for consideration by the Honours Sub Committee. There is a restriction of two nominations from any one county.
