New Blue & White Books for 2017

The annual updates to the Blue Book and White Book have been made by the Laws & Ethics Committee.

The Blue Book is the EBU's book of permitted agreements.

The White Book is primarily aimed at tournament directors and organisers. While it is only official for events run by the EBU, it is hoped that a far wider audience will find it useful, as do many clubs and counties who use it as their default for situations where they have no explicit regulations. It contains advice for players, general regulations, regulations on scoring, advice for Tournament Directors and Appeals Committee members, and the EBU interpretations of bridge laws.

The content of these books applies to all events held on or after 1st August 2017.

A 'poster' to display at your bridge club summarise the key changes in the Blue Book is available here (the main change to note is that new regulations relating to ‘strong’ bids have replaced the Extended Rule of 25).

If you have any queries on the content of any of the books please contact Robin Barker, the Deputy Chief TD - robin@ebu.co.uk.
