Youth bridge events in spring 2018


There are lots of upcoming youth events, so please pass this information on to any junior members of your club, or to the relatives of any current – or potential – young players.

Young Bridge Challenge

Loughborough, 10th March

A one-day bridge event for school-age players. It is free to enter and is a fun day of bridge for all experience levels.

  • Teams with all four players from one school participate in the Schools Cup & Schools Plate
  • Composite teams will be playing for the Harry Scully Trophy
  • Format: Swiss teams (3 rounds) after which top four eligible teams enter a knock out phase for the Schools Cup, remaining teams continue with a further 2 rounds of Swiss Teams

Under 21 Championship Pairs

Part of the EBU Easter Congress in London, 31st March

A championship pairs event for those aged under 21 on 1st January 2018 (so born more recently than 1st January 1997). The event is free to enter, but entries should be made in advance (ideally by 23rd March) to the Competitions Department.

Participants also have the opportunity for free entry into the Swiss Teams on Sunday 1st April, and half price entry to the Swiss Pairs on Monday 2nd April, both at the Easter Congress in London.

Junior Bridge Camp

Cheltenham, 7th – 8th April

Following their successful event in 2017, junior coordinators in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire are holding another residential event in Cheltenham. It is aimed at all levels and ages, from beginners to junior experts, and includes tuition, coaching and play, along with other games and social activities.
