Smith, Brock & Sinclair win gold, Hackett team bronze, at World Bridge Series

Sally Brock and Nicola Smith have won the Women's Teams at the World Bridge Series in Sanya, China. They were part of the 'Baker' team with Lynn Baker (U.S.A.), Karen McCallum (U.S.A.), Marion Michielsen (Netherlands), and Meike Wortel (Netherlands).

This adds to the English success with the team captained by Anita Sinclair having won the mixed teams earlier in the event. Playing alongside Anita were Nafiz Zorlu (Turkey), Sabine Auken (Germany) & Roy Welland (Germany) and Zia Mahmood (U.S.A.) & Marion Michielsen (Netherlands) (picture).

The team of the English trio of Paul Hackett, John Holland, John Sansom, and Christian Mari of France, won bronze in the Senior Teams. The team would like to thank Pharon Independent Financial Advisers for their support.

In the mixed pairs event the leading English players were Sally Brock & Barry Myers in 18th, and Chris Duckworth & Brian Callaghan in 20th.

In the Women's Pairs, Sally Brock and Nicola Smith were 10th. In the Open Pairs, David Bakhshi, playing with the American Russ Ekeblad, was 29th, and Phil King, playing with Swede Peter Bertheau, were 37th.
