Finalists for Garden Cities Trophy decided

The Regional Finals of the Garden Cities Trophy took place on Saturday 7th May at four venues. The event featured 33 teams of eight which won their county championship, and the top two at each heat progress to the National Final which will take place on 25th June.

Defending champions Manchester BC topped the table at the Bradford heat, winning all of their matches. Deva BC, from Merseyside and Cheshire, finished second and join them in the national final.

At the Peterborough heat, last year's runners up Cambridge BC qualified comfortably. They won all eight of their matches, and finished 41 VPs ahead of Kettering BC from Northamptonshire.

The Regional Final held in Bristol produced the closest results, with only 10 VPs out of a possible 160 covering the top 5 teams. Trowbridge County Town BC, from Wiltshire, finished top, with a tie for second between Taunton BC, from Somerset, and Allendale BC from Dorset. The tie was split in favour of Taunton.

Young Chelsea BC, representing London, and Reading BC, from Berks & Bucks, were the two qualifiers from the Regional Final held in Richmond.
