The International Bridge Press Association awards were announced during the World Bridge Games, with a number of EBU members featuring amongst the winners and nominees. The awards recognise the best in bridge journalism and writing - though of course the author is also dependent on good subject matter, so being the subject of a nominated work is also noteworthy.
David Bird won the award for Book of the Year for The Abbot, the Parrot and the Bermuda Bowl. This was the first time he won the award, having been shortlisted on four previous occasions.
Brian Senior was nominated for the Junior Deal of the Year award, reporting on a hand played by English U16 player Liz Gahan. England U26 player Yvonne Wiseman was also featured in this category as the subject of a nominated article.
In the Best Bid Deal of the Year auctions by Colin Simpson & David Price, and by Jason & Justin Hackett, were the subjects of nominated articles.
