Fiona Brown (Yorks) & Helen Erichsen (Kent) were winners of the Great Northern Swiss Pairs, which was held in Leeds on 1st-2nd October.
The competition, run by the Yorkshire Contract Bridge Association on behalf of the EBU, was played over twelve matches. Fiona and Helen won ten of their matches to finish on 177 VPs. Clive Owen (North East) & Brian Senior (Yorks) were second with 169 VPs, and John Brearley & Ross Shine (both Lancs) were third on 161 VPs.
The winners of the B stratification prize were Peter Ping & Fred Robinson (both North East) (see picture here) who finished =17th of the 98 pairs, and the C stratification prize was won by Wei Che Tham (Hants & IOW) & Rachel O'Brien (Yorks) (see picture here) who finished 46th.
An Improvers Pairs was held on Sunday, and was won by Helen McCormac & Jennifer Weatherall (both Yorks) (see picture here), narrowly ahead of Michael Warwick & Fiona Drew (both Yorks).
