Constables, and Lancaster team, win main events at Budapest Congress

The Overseas Congress in Budapest, sponsored by Bridge Overseas, has recently concluded, with Val & Ian Constable, and the Lancaster team, winning the two main Swiss competitions.

Val & Ian (picture here) lost only once in their ten matches in the Swiss Pairs, finishing with 154 VPs. Andy Baruch & Sarah Jones were second with 129 VPs, and Lesley Bridson & Catherine Thompson were third with 125.

The Lancaster team - Nigel Lancaster, Stephen Gore, Maria Budd and Mark Westley - started the Swiss Teams slowly, losing their first three matches, but came back strongly to finish on 136 VPs from ten matches, 8 VPs ahead of the field. The team of Sue O'Hara, Nelson Stephens, Kathy Talbot & Denis Talbot were second.
