Stan started to play bridge at University in 1950 and has been involved in the game for over 50 years. He has given an outstanding service, particularly over the last 20 years, to the County and the Welwyn Garden City Bridge Club.
He was elected to Herts Bridge Association Committee in 1970’s as Treasurer and later became the Association’s auditor. He has served on the Herts Committee since 1997 in a variety of roles – Chairman of the Laws & Ethics Committee, member of the Tournament Committee, organiser of the County Leagues and has recently agreed to become Club Liaison Officer in order to improve communications and assistance by the County to Clubs.
In 1986 he joined the Committee of the Welwyn Garden City Bridge Club becoming Chairman from 1992 to 2004 when he became their first President in its 70 year history. He established a comprehensive teaching programme which has enabled the club to double its membership.
Stan is always willing to help however small the task and is always courteous and friendly to all who meet him at the bridge table.
