13 teams entered, each with four players from the same school, and competed in two round robin groups.  The leading two teams from each group then played semi-final and finals over 8 boards.  An upset in the semi-final saw the B team of Reading School overcome  the hot favourites for the trophy, their School’s own A team.  They could not repeat their giant killing act and narrowly lost to Nottingham High School in the final.
