What Is A Beacon Club? |
||||
Beacon Bridge clubs are those which "carry the torch" for youth bridge – clubs that do all they can to foster bridge for young people. Clubs may approach the business of encouraging bridge for the young in one (or more) of three distinct ways, each of which may be successful in different areas with different groups of people. These are: |
||||
| establishing a junior ‘club within the club’; | ||||
| integrating young people within the club as regular members; | ||||
| involving the club in other junior bridge activities. | ||||
| Clubs that have tried some of these approaches, or plan to do so, include the following: | ||||
| Andrew Robson Bridge Club, London | ||||
| Brighouse & Spen (Doreen Adams) | ||||
| County BC, Leicester (David Pollard) | ||||
| East Midlands BC (Pym Berry) | ||||
| Harrogate BC (Cedric Cockcroft) | ||||
| Manchester BC (Jeff Morris) | ||||
| Richmond BC (Marietta Andree) | ||||
| St Georges Bridge Centre, Darlington (Malcolm Oliver) | ||||
| West of England BC (Gareth Evans) | ||||
| Young Chelsea BC (Warwick Pitch) | ||||
