Entry fees waived for Junior Squad Players

Junior Squad Members and EBU Teams events

The EBU board have AGREED that entry fees be waived for junior squad players playing in certain approved events (approved by the squad manager). This was agreed, subject to squad players playing as a complete team in team events. It was also extended to include provision of entry fees for specific approved events in Scotland and Wales.

A sub-committee of John Pain, Alison Nicolson, Graham Jepson and Jeff Morris met at the Young Bridge Challenge on Saturday March 18th and drew up the following list of tournaments where this concession will apply:

KO teams events:
Crockfords and Crockfords Plate, NICKO and NICKO plate, Brighton Midweek KO teams.

Congress events with a teams competition: Autumn Congress, Year End Congress (either venue), Harrogate Spring Congress, Easter Festival (either venue), Spring Bank Holiday, Riviera Congress Torquay, Scarborough, Brighton.
In congress events the concession applies to the teams event only. Note that the London Easter Festival already has a concession for those playing in the U19/GWAD final or U25 finals on the previous day/s are eligible for free entry to the teams on Sunday.

Teams competitions: Swiss Teams congress, Schapiro Spring 4s.

One Day Joint Ventures: Loughborough March Swiss Teams only

Age Limit: This concession is for genuine squad members who are still eligible to be selected for qualifying events. Once the last event for which you could be selected has passed you are no longer entitled to the free concession.

Please note this concession applies to complete teams of squad players who actually play in the event. A team changed after the entry has been made to include non-squad juniors or adults will have to pay the fee.

A squad pair/player playing with anyone else are not eligible although the normal concession for U25s - (½ price entry for juniors applies to those under the age of 22, or under 25 & doing their first degree (not simply in full-time education)).

Events outside England:
East Wales Swiss teams Congress - February Llangollen - November Gold Cup Congress - Peebles, December.
In these cases only the Squad training budget will find the entry fees.

Events organised by other bodies - Gold Cup and Silver Plate. To be decided after discussion with BGB.

For information, the concession applies to the entry fee ONLY. No request for assistance with travel or accommodation will be entertained. In certain cases where the squad manager designates the event as forming part of official squad training then travel expenses at 17p per mile or 2nd class rail fare, whichever is cheaper may also be paid.
