The EBU board
have AGREED that entry fees be waived for junior squad players
playing in certain approved events (approved by the squad
manager). This was agreed, subject to squad players playing
as a complete team in team events. It was also extended
to include provision of entry fees for specific approved
events in Scotland and Wales.
A sub-committee of John Pain, Alison Nicolson, Graham Jepson
and Jeff Morris met at the Young Bridge Challenge on Saturday
March 18th and drew up the following list of tournaments
where this concession will apply:
KO teams events: Crockfords and Crockfords Plate,
NICKO and NICKO plate, Brighton Midweek KO teams.
Congress events with a teams competition: Autumn Congress, Year End Congress (either venue), Harrogate
Spring Congress, Easter Festival (either venue), Spring
Bank Holiday, Riviera Congress Torquay, Scarborough, Brighton.
In congress events the concession applies to the teams event
only. Note that the London Easter Festival already has a
concession for those playing in the U19/GWAD final or U25
finals on the previous day/s are eligible for free entry
to the teams on Sunday.
Teams competitions: Swiss Teams congress,
Schapiro Spring 4s.

Age Limit: This concession is for genuine squad members who are still eligible to be selected for qualifying events. Once the last event for which you could be selected has passed you are no longer entitled to the free concession.
Please note this concession applies to complete teams of
squad players who actually play in the event. A team changed
after the entry has been made to include non-squad juniors
or adults will have to pay the fee.
A squad pair/player playing with anyone else are not eligible
although the normal concession for U25s - (½ price
entry for juniors applies to those under the age of 22,
or under 25 & doing their first degree (not simply in
full-time education)).
Events outside England:
East Wales Swiss teams Congress - February Llangollen -
November Gold Cup Congress - Peebles, December.
In these cases only the Squad training budget will find
the entry fees.
Events organised by other bodies - Gold Cup and Silver Plate.
To be decided after discussion with BGB.
For information, the concession applies to the entry fee
ONLY. No request for assistance with travel or accommodation
will be entertained. In certain cases where the squad manager
designates the event as forming part of official squad training
then travel expenses at 17p per mile or 2nd class rail fare,
whichever is cheaper may also be paid.
