Education Awards for 2003
Young Player and Young Pair of the Year
Rather belatedly, as 2004 is fast disappearing, John Pain is pleased to announce that Alex Morris has been named as Young Player of the Year for 2003. John Atthey and Laura Macdougall have been named as Young Pair of the Year for 2003.
The awarding committee recognised Alex Morris's overall achievement in 2003 in being in the team which finished fourth in the Brighton teams final, finishing in the last eight of the Gold Cup and being part of the victorious team that won the Junior Camrose trophy in January this year.
For the Young Pair of the Year the awarding committee has recognised John and Laura's overall achievement in 2003 in winning the Under 19 pairs Championship and being part of the victorious team that won the Peggy Bayer trophy in January this year.
The Alec Salisbury Award
The final education award for 2003 is awarded to a school teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to bridge in England in the year in question. This goes to Megan Starkings.
The awarding committee saw this as recognition for the hours spent over the years supporting Mel and the junior squads at local and national level, for always being available at training weekends and for the countless number of breakfasts prepared.
Many congratulations to all recipients.
