The National Finals of the Inter-County Leagues took place online on Sunday 8th June. Champions from each of the five regional Inter-County leagues were invited to compete alongside last year’s national champions.
In a finish worthy of a French Open Final, Cambs & Hunts snatched the 'A' division title from Yorkshire on the very last deal. Yorkshire, the defending champions, had led from the first round, and were six VPs ahead of Cambs & Hunts going into the last round when the two sides met. Even with one result pending on the final board, Yorkshire were 4 VPs ahead. But that one result gained a 13-7 win for Cambs & Hunts, to level the overall scores and secure the trophy on a tie-break, courtesy of the head-to-head match result.
Congratulations also to Oxfordshire & Sussex on winning the 'B' and 'C' divisions in less dramatic circumstances.
